BSMCC Club Ride Tambourine - Beaudesert

23 March, 2008

The March ride started from Logan Village with a good roll up of members. Although rain was threatening we only encountered some light showers throughout the day. Not enough to require the wet weather gear.

Glen Challis was our run leader for the day and led the group through Tamborine Village and on towards Beaudesert before turning off to Biddaddaba, a very winding road, especially suitable for our old bikes. From there we headed to Canungra with a stop for fuel for a few riders.

On the eastern side of Canungra, we took the steep Goat Track to the top of Mt. Tamborine for morning tea at the cafe on the corner to Henri Roberts Drive, the setting for some group photos by Graham and David after the bikes with their riders were lined up.

Glen then led the way down the very steep Henri Roberts Drive (a good test for the brakes on the old bikes), but turned off part way down on a road not many of us had seen before. This took us past large well-maintained properties with green, rolling lawns and picturesque dams full of water lilies.

On reaching the bottom of the hill we retraced our steps through Canungra, Biddaddaba and then headed for Beaudesert, where lunch was had at the hotel in the main street. This hotel has recently been refurbished and provided a great lunch at a reasonable price. After a leisurely lunch and a chat, the group headed in various directions to their respective homes.
